Learn to sea kayak with a structured, beginner-friendly 4-hour sea kayaking lesson designed to build confidence and safety on the water. This class is perfect for anyone looking to learn to sea kayak, even with no prior experience. You’ll learn essential beginner sea kayaking skills including efficient paddling, balance and boat control, safe launching and landing, basic self-rescue, and proper use of all kayaking equipment. Instruction is step-by-step and paced for first-time paddlers.
All kayaking gear is included. By the end of the lesson, you’ll have the skills and confidence to paddle safely and continue your sea kayaking journey.

Build skills, confidence, and efficiency quickly with custom sea kayaking lessons led by an American Canoe Association–certified Coastal Sea Kayak Instructor. These sessions are designed for paddlers of all skill levels, from beginner sea kayaking to experienced kayakers looking to refine technique. Each coaching session features a personalized lesson plan based on your goals, learning pace, and conditions on the water. Expect clear, ACA-style instruction with plenty of hands-on practice focused on real-world skills, safety, and progression.

INTRO TO THE GREENLAND PADDLE
“What kind of paddle is that?” It’s the question I hear most on the water—and the answer is a Greenland paddle, a traditional design refined over 4,000 years of sea kayaking. In this one-on-one lesson, you’ll learn the basics of Greenland paddle theory and technique with on-water coaching tailored to your skill level. The focus is on relaxed, efficient strokes that are easy on the shoulders, reduce fatigue, and help extend your kayaking career. Many paddlers are surprised by how smooth, quiet, and powerful this style feels. Greenland paddle rental included. A perfect introduction for anyone curious about traditional paddling or looking for a safer, more sustainable way to kayak.

This 3-day ACA Level 3 Coastal Sea Kayak Certification course is built for experienced paddlers ready to test and refine their skills in wind, waves, and dynamic coastal environments. Following standards set by the American Canoe Association, this course may be taken as a Level 3 Skills Assessment or Level 3 Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) for eligible participants.
Training takes place on the Upper Great Lakes, blending hands-on on-water instruction with focused classroom sessions. Expect advanced boat control, efficient paddling, rescues in rough water, group management, and sound decision-making in real conditions.
